Yesterday I archived old content and removed it from the site. If you’re looking for an outfit, there’s one Mrs. Roper situation from last summer and that’s it. Similar scenario with the recipes. The process was kind of long but cathartic. I got tired of looking at current posts and seeing old outfits stemming back to three and four years ago listed as ‘popular’ on the side. It’s a different day.
Also, I can’t believe how young I looked in some of those pictures. Damn.
Immediate thoughts:
- Where did all my hair go?
- Why the hell did I sell those $8 pants?
- I wonder if I could still fit in those $8 pants?
- What ever happened to the flea market?
- Oh, nevermind. *remembers it’s turned into a zoo*
Something’s are better left alone, but that is definitely a younger, more carefree – even if I was chained to a desk – version of me. Then again blogging was, what I considered to be, fun then; not about sponsorships and agents and buying followers on social media. Still, it’s bewildering that I ever began documenting what I wore. I’ve never wanted to look like everyone else, unavoidable as that may be, and I certainly don’t want people mimicking me. I just want to do my own thing. Kind of not conducive to putting your outfits on the internet, right? I guess it’s a good thing I never hit the big time or I’d be really screwed right now. Ha!
So anyway, here’s to the old free bird. Moment of silence for the string of snaps below. I’m not sure what’s in store for the future, but if I’m ever standing in front of the garage in something I feel particularly good in maybe I’ll have Chris snap a couple of pictures on his iphone. TBD.

Those jeans kicked ass! You still have them? They’re mahvelous, as are the rest of the looks! but,oh those jeans!
Aw love this Carrie! I remember ALL of these outfits. Fun following you for all of these years… can’t believe blogging and documenting my outfits is something I’d do and continue to do for so long now! x
Alicia, yours is one of few fashion blogs to remain on my reader. You’ve managed to take on sponsorships and PR relationships without losing your voice and authenticity. You’re still kind and humble. I appreciate that and continue to enjoy the outfits you put together. You’ve come a long way and it’s been fun to watch!
Awww, this is a little bittersweet for me since you were my first outfit post inspiration (remember the white challenge??) But I didn’t keep it up nearly as long as you did. I always loved your outfits, because they were SO YOU! And your words and perspective have and will always, draw me in.
*moment of silence*
It’s crazy to see how things have evolved over the years. Nothing against the way it is now but I realized a while back that just because I worked in retail, didn’t mean I had to have a fashion blog. I’m much more comfortable with the digital diary format, and wanted to be able to look back on memories more than my
“must haves for spring 2010”.
This just feels more like me now, so I guess I’m doing just that. Thanks!
I remember that first picture as well as the vest and jeans. Keep on rocking what you want to rock and if you want to record them for us, that’s cool too. Always remember to have fun!
Old or new, reading your blog and seeing you in pics delights me.
I think it’s good to show both sides because that’s real life, right?
Not to take away from your great style, but it was always your words and humor that kept me engaged. I love your posts now more than ever!
Ps. Those are some beautiful pics!
YES! That means the world because the words are what’s most important!! Thank you, Nadia 🙂
Loved your old posts but love your new ones even more xo
Thank you, Lori, me too. Even though some of the other ones just seemed to have more of a fun spirit to them. Hopefully I’ll get that spark back a little. 🙂
I have always loved your style. Loved it.
I stopped doing outfit posts. I felt silly. Silly. I think I deleted all of them haha!
When I look back now I cringe over a lot of it, mostly just the effort (read somewhat of a waste of time that went into it) so I know what you mean!
It always makes me feel a bit unsettled to think about my life a few years ago. Not necessarily bad but it feels strange to appreciate the huge upheavals (nothing on your level but the trauma of finishing grad school, getting tossed out of the country, and having to develop an elaborate and, at the time, highly unsatisfying, plan B and then execute it within a period of a few months). It’s just a weird feeling.
Seeing your retrospective I can really only think of two things: your style was amazing then and it’s amazing now and you need to make it your mission to find those sweet pants again because those babies are blowing my mind!

Courtney, you really did go through a hell of a lot in a short time and have come out on top. I definitely look to you as a survivor and organizer of chaos. I mean, look at you now!
We all grow. I loved your style and I still do. You simply focus on different things right now. But you are still you and that is the part I love.
Oh Judy, thank you. I am still the same me in some ways and I’m glad that still comes through in spite of all the changes. xo
I’m so glad a few favorites will live on in this post. Your sense of style always made me feel braver about what was in my closet.
Thanks Lena, you have to love what you wear or you won’t feel good in it. That’s my motto anyway.
i miss the good ole days!
me too, they were fun 🙂
You were beautiful a couple years ago; you are beautiful now. I don’t think anyone can see the differences in the pictures and now but you. You look extraordinarily young for your (still young) age. I love your style, always have. That ikat dress! You look amazing, but what you have to say is also amazing, so I’m happy to hear your words regardless. <3
I think you’re right, I (maybe we as women) notice the changes in ourselves more than others looking outside in. Either way, you it felt good to hear you say you find my words amazing. Thank you, Claire. xo Also, that ikat dress is pj’s from Anthro. Yep.
For those of us who have grown with you we appreciate your new blogging style just as much!
Thank you so much for saying that, Miss G. It means a lot to me.
You always had your own sense of style & spirit that shone through luv you always !!!
xoxo CP❤️❤️
Thanks CP, if only we had pictures from our younger days!
